"Looking Within"

Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is No Vision, the people perish.” (KJV) Translated from the Hebrew, “where there is no vision, prophecy, or revelation from God, the people cast off restraint, wander aimlessly, because they have no leadership.” That means without a vision, or purpose, we, as Christians, Churches, or an association, drift and wander aimlessly, not accomplishing the purpose for which God has called us. What is our Purpose?

Our Purpose has always been to carry out the Great Commission to our Jerusalem’s and the world and live out the Great Commandment in the process. As an association, we can do what individual churches cannot do, such as reach everyone in Bedford County with the gospel.

Our Vision is “Due to our common faith in Jesus Christ and His body, the Church, we Commit ourselves to Connecting with one another, for Coordinating the missions and ministries of our member churches, and Communicating opportunities to partner together to fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandment.” But how do we carry out our Purpose, how do we “flesh out” our New Vision?

The Self-Study Team is working diligently on a new structure for the Association that will enable us to Connect, Coordinate, and Communicate with each other. Whereas the old structure was organized similar to the way a church would be organized, i.e., a committee-based structure, the new structure would be organized around Networks of Churches working together as a Team.
