Two more rehearsals are scheduled for the Associational Choir—one on Sunday, October 14, and the final rehearsal will be Sunday, October 21 , both at 3 p.m. in Flint Hill’s sanctuary. Please join us even if you missed the first rehearsal.
A copy of the Proposed Budget for 2013 is included in October newsletter packets. Pastors/Clerks, please see that your messengers receive a copy.
The 5:30 p.m. meal will be provided by Flint Hill at a cost of $7.00 per person. (Checks for the meal should be payable to Flint Hill Baptist Church) The church would appreciate the clerk (or another individual from each church) calling 540.297.6783 with a meal count (messengers as well as others who plan to attend) no later than Monday, October 15. If necessary, leave a message. Again, we encourage all who enjoy the fellowship and are interested in the mission and ministry of Strawberry Association to make plans to attend.

Eight members of Flint Hill just returned from a mission trip to Southwest Virginia where they spent a week working with the SW Virginia Missions Partnership (of the BGAV) in Gate City, Virginia. The team did demolition and new construction work as well as helping the local Gate City Food Pantry. It was the first short-term mission trip as a church.
There will be a Youth Tent Revival at Mentow on Saturday, October 10, 5:30-8:00 p.m. The evening will kick off with a weenie roast followed with praise & worship featuring Pier 19. The keynote speaker will be Christopher Haymes, evangelist from Boiling Springs, NC.
Mentow will have Homecoming Sunday, October 21. The speaker will be Dr. Bert Browning, pastor from 1979-1984. A covered-dish lunch will be served. Revival services will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday-Wednesday, October 21-24. Dr. Browning will be the speaker.
Mount Hermon will complete its year-long 225th anniversary celebration with homecoming on Sunday, October 7. Fred Anderson of the Virginia Baptist Historical Society will be the guest speaker for worship service; special music will include the Little Mountain Boys and others; and a fellowship luncheon will be served.
The “Hearts for the Harvest” missions event at Palestine (scheduled for October 13) has been postponed until Spring of 2013.
Quaker’sHomecoming will be Sunday, October 14. Rev. Rick Schwab, former youth pastor at Quaker and current pastor of the church he planted in Michigan, will bring the message. A covered dish meal will be served.
Thaxton voted to call Tim Wilgus as full time Associate Pastor of Youth and Children’s Ministries effective September 3. He has been serving the church part-time since March 2010. Tim and his wife Amy have two children.
On Sunday, October 7, 6 p.m., Thaxton will host a performance by the Children of the World International Children’s Choir presented by World Help.

Women on Mission : Thaxton will lead weekly devotionals at Oakwood Manor in October. Beaverdam will lead them in November. Timber Ridge will host the October birthday party for residents of Bedford County Nursing Home; Pecks will host it in November.

Main Street United Methodist Church in Bedford is a drop-off location for shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child . National Collection Week is November 12-19, 2012, and collection hours in Bedford are: Monday, 6-8 p.m.; Tuesday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; Wednesday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; Thursday, 6-8 p.m.; Friday, 2-4 p.m.; Saturday, 9-11 a.m.; Sunday, 9-11 a.m.; Monday, November 19, no collection.
Annual Church Profile material is due back in the SBA office by Thursday, October 11. Also, clerks are asked to provide names of messengers to the 2012 SBA Annual Meeting with ACP info or enter them at the church’s SBDS website by Thursday, October 11. (These names will be used to create registration lists as well as name tags for messengers to pick up when they register at the meeting.)
The following churches have submitted the name of their 2012/2013 lay Regional Representative who will also serve as a Representative to the Leadership Team which meets in April: Hunting Creek, Mentow, Mount Zion, Quaker, Suck Spring. Remaining churches are encouraged to enlist their representative and send the name (and if willing, the area of ministry in which they would serve) to the SBA office as soon as possible.
