How to Know God

Mission Trip
to Florianópolis, Brazil

On March 15 our team of eight traveled to the beautiful island city of Florianópolis in Brazil's Santa Catarina state. This capital city has more than 675,000 inhabitants and is surrounded by 43 diverse beaches.

The team was hosted by the Campeche Baptist Church. One of the daily activities was Vacation Bible School. Later in the week the children participated in a worship celebration by singing some of the songs they had learned.

A unique ministry opportunity was teaching 25 or 30 women of the community how to quilt. During these informal gatherings relationships were built and the message of God's love was shared.

The town government was very cordial and helpful. They even allowed the ladies to meet in part of the town hall.

Several of the ladies and girls learn how to quilt.

Nearly 700 students heard testimonies of God's love and received gifts that demonstrated the plan of salvation. The teachers and staff of the schools warmly received the team members into their classes.

What a joy to meet with the teenagers! They regularly conduct their own worship and study times and invited the team to one of their weekly gatherings.

Early on Sunday morning a men's discipleship group meets at the home of Pastor Miguel Fuentes of Campeche Baptist for prayer and Bible study.

A crowd of about 200 people gather each Sunday evening at the Campeche Baptist Church for a dynamic time of celebration and ministry. The joy, praise, and heartfelt singing unite hearts in spite of ocassional language barriers.
Singing to the Lord brings joy to the heart!

Without the generous support of a number of our churches and individuals we would not have been able to put this team together. Each of the team members want you to know how valuable your participation was in this exciting and rewarding ministry. We look forward to many other similar opportunities!

A big thank you from your Brazil mission team!
