CenterFest 2004

Have you been praying about your part in CenterFest 2004? September 25 has been set aside for Bedford to entertain upwards of 25,000 visitors to our area. This is always a huge event with lots of crafts, art, and local flavor on display. A number of vendors will be on site to take care of the hungry participants, and thankfully, our Association will also have a booth in the very heart of town where we will be privileged for the third year in a row to minister to thousands who will walk the streets of our Jerusalem.

What's so important about the local church?

The local church is the place people regularly meet the living God. God, of course, is not confined to Georgian buildings, the kept mascot a private elite trots out once a week for purposes of obeisance. But God, like you or me, shows up where he is invited and welcomed. That is more likely to happen at your church than at a soccer match or on your deck with the Sunday morning paper in your mitts.

Thank You!

Thank you! Gracias! Merci! Not since 1989 (that's 15 years) has the response to our Association Missions Week Offering been so good! As of Monday, July 26, sixteen churches as well as several individuals have contributed a total of $5,244.04 to the 2004 "One Dollar per Day per Member for Seven Days" emphasis. It's great when receipts exceed expenditures!

Hunting Creek will have revival services on Sunday, August 15, through Wednesday, August 18, 7:00 each evening. Rev. James Newman will be the speaker.

Mentow's VBS offering of $2,732.21 will be used by "Because We Care Ministries" to build a church in Nicaragua.

Clothes Needed

"Because We Care Ministries" is in need of summer clothes for people of all ages. These will then be distributed to needy folks in Nicaragua this year. If you or your church would like to help out, please be sure that the clothes are clean and in good condition. Once collected, the clothes may be dropped off at the Association office, or "Because We Care Ministries" will make arrangements to pick them up. Call our office with any questions. Thanks!

Boundaries With Kids
Parenting Video Conferences
Hosted by Mount Zion Baptist Church

Boundaries with Kids is written by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. The best selling book, by the same title, gives parents the tools for raising their kids to take responsibility for their own actions, attitudes and emotions. The eight sessions will help bring order to problematic family circumstances and guide even the most stable families into better ways of relating.

How does your church use The Spirit?

Each month, SBA churches receive a packet of The Spirit, SBA's newsletter. Some churches place a newsletter in each youth and adult Sunday school classroom and the teacher shares articles/news throughout the month. It could also be used during weekly prayer meetings to focus on events/needs in churches in the SBA family as well as birthdays/anniversaries of SBA pastors. Can you suggest other ways The Spirit may be used as an effective communication tool?
