Bedford County Public Schools provides comprehensive educational programs to local students from Bedford City and Couunty. The State Department of Public Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools have accredited all 21 schools in the system. Innovative programs prepare students for meaningful careers and continuing education. Local graduates regularly gain access to lucrative employment and to many of the most prestigious colleges and universities.

Technical Education
The award winning Bedford Science and Technology Center offers local secondary students two-year vocational certificate programs in Auto Technology, Building and Grounds Maintenance, Carpentry, Child Care, Collision Repair Technology, Cosmetology, Design & Technology, Drafting Design Technology, Electricity, Health Assistants, Horticulture, JROTC, Masonry, Office Technology, Licensed Practical Nursing, and Work Study., Staunton River and Forest High School students combine learning at these schools with half-day classes at BSTC. There they use state-of-the-art tools to practice skills that make local employers seek them out as new employees.

Many programs offer on-the-job training for top students. Through Tech Prep Reform initiatives, many students become eligible for gaining college credit while at the Bedford Science and Technology Center. BSTC has won the Rufus Beamer Award for Excellence in Business Education, the award for outstanding U.S. VICA Chapter, and the Blue Ridge Council Excellence in Education Award among others. Recognized for having the Best Automotive Technician Training Program in Virginia, and for having numerous regional, state, and nationally recognized instructors, the school is well suited to meet the training needs for the highly technical careers in the future.

TECH PREP
Bedford's secondary schools cooperate in unique partnerships with area colleges to bring Tech Prep benefits to local students. Tech Prep gives many students carefully focused learning that they can apply directly to college studies. In some cases, they receive college credit for Bedford Science and Technology Center Tech Prep programs. In more instances, Tech Prep initiatives prepare students for the continuing education they must pursue in order to meet the future+s challenges.City
